Social Justice Power Hour
Saul Austerlitz
An adjunct professor of writing & comedy history at NYU & freelance writer for the New York Times, Esquire, Rolling Stone, the Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, Slate, & The New Republic, among many others, as well as a passionate social justice activist his-own-self, Shane is also the author of “Money for Nothing: A History of the Music Video from the Beatles to the White Stripes”, “Sitcom: A History in 24 Episodes from I Love Lucy to Community”, “Just a Shot Away: Peace, Love, and Tragedy with the Rolling Stones at Altamont”, & “Generation Friends: An Inside Look at the Show That Defined a Television Era”.
We have survived the pandemic by at least in part partakin’ in what the kids call “binge-watching” & insomuch has caused us to rethink & reassess some of our favorite sitcoms of times past in terms of racial, gender, & social justice contexts so no one better than Saul to help us break down both the successes & failures of these shows in dealin’ with these issues, “very special episodes” notwithstanding…
Join Saul & our own Chief Activist Robt Seda-Schreiber in virtual community-buildin' conversation equally empowerin' & entertainin'
