Social Justice Power Hour!
Phil Jimenez
Our fabulous "New Comic Book Wednesday" chats with Anthony Oliveira & Steve Orlando were so well-received, we've decided to rebroadcast this meaningful moment shared with our dear friend & comix legend Phil!
Please check out this fantastic Power Hour with multiple award-winning artist, film creator, toy designer, teacher, lecturer & queer groundbreaker as he’s worked for over 25 years, for DC, Marvel, & numerous independents...
In this field, Phil is considered one of the “most prominent gay creators in mainstream comics” by Entertainment Weekly, the Advocate, & OUT magazine. In fact, throughout Pride last month, Marvel celebrated by publishin' variant covers developed by Phil, featurin’ Marvel’s LGBTQIA characters.
Phil’s journey as a queer creator in the comic book world is all at once inspirational & aspirational to LGBTQIA youth as well as adults who often don’t see themselves represented on the pages of the comix they read but even less so in the folx behind the scenes writin’ & drawin’ these books. Throughout his incredibly successful career, Phil has strived to create that identity for these marginalized readers & in doin’ so has created an ever-growin’ safe-space for these fans to feel seen & we were over the moon that he shared his personal journey & how he used his powerful voice & extraordinary artwork to represent, recognize, & celebrate so many of us!
